When asked to write about a Cube member for our first newsletter, there is no way I could look past one of my oldest and dearest friends.......Mullet. Craig has been an inspiration to me and everyone around us over the last 8 - 9 years, as he has completely transformed his life and his image from a big fuzzy haired shy boy into a fit, confident and good looking cat. I have been mates with Mullet for 23 years now and have had the privilege of watching his journey, he pushes me daily and I hope I give him the same motivation. Up until the last 3 years Mullet has virtually done it all on his own, running and training alone, he did all of the hard work and it is a credit to him as a person. When we began Backyard fit Mullet found a new lease on life, we even had a 6 month stint at a cross fit gym where we pushed each other even more even competing in small games days. I asked Mullet to fill out a small survey so we can all get an insight into how he goes about his life and how he has accomplished his fitness goals along the way.
Name - Craig “Mullet” Tredinnick
Age - 27
Weight - 82.5kg
Time at the cube - Since opening and 2.5years at Backyard Fit
Favourite exercise – Burpees, "I just like em"
Exercise history:
- School years: very little, the odd football training
- 18 - 23years old: mainly running and solo stuff
- 24: a year of bootcamps and group fitness
- The last 3 years: Backyard fit and cube
What are the main goals/results you have achieved over the last few years training with us?
Increased all round fitness, increased strength, and smaller milestones such as 100kg squats and dead lifts and more recently muscle-ups after 2 years of attempts
What is your favourite thing about training at the Cube?
Teamwork and mateship, there is nothing better than pushing yourself in a great environment like the cube
What does your average daily diet consist of?
Breakfast: 4 eggs, turkey, spinach in a wrap
Lunch: Protein (chicken etc.) and salad in a wrap
Dinner: ideally protein and salad or veg (although I do have a weakness for chicken wraps from the local shops)
How important to you in training and life is your diet?
In regard to training diet is extremely important, if I eat bad for lunch or throughout the day my training lacks energy and stamina and my whole attitude is flat. To me the most important meal of the day is the meal pre workout, for me mainly lunch. A good, solid, wholesome diet helps every aspect of my everyday life, from my physical job, to training and my heavy social life, and let’s not even go into the dating game!
Any final comments?
I have been training in this environment for a couple of years now and have found everything is a progress, like double-unders (skipping), toes-2-bar or power cleans, when I started I couldn't do any of it, but over time I have progressed now I can string together 50 Dubs, can T2B easily and power clean 90kg. The key is to stick with it, learn, be patient and take on all the advice you can get from the guys who know how!
